Margaretha Gubernale
Margaretha Gubernale draws inspiration from nature, philosophy, and anthroposophy. Her artworks are a delicate balance, where she navigates between abstract concepts and the forms found in nature to highlight symbolic allegories with utmost clarity.
An international artist born in Zug on June 9, 1941, where she also maintains her studio, EDERA, Margaretha Gubernale has showcased her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide. Notable exhibitions include the Montserrat Gallery in 1993, the Agora Gallery in 2011, and the Broadway Gallery in 2012, all in New York, USA. She has also exhibited in Miami and Canada, Germany, France—where she participated in a group exhibition at the Eiffel Tower, Salle Gustave Eiffel, Paris in 2014—and in countries such as England, Spain, Malta, Austria, China, Switzerland, and Italy.
Among her accolades is the 1st prize Margherita Hack from Spoleto Arte for a solo exhibition. She participated in the Exposition Art Capital at the Grand Palais-Réunion des Musées Nationaux in February 2018 and 2020, and at the Palais Éphémère with the Société des Artistes Indépendants in Paris, France, in 2024. Additionally, she took part in the Swiss Art Expo at Zurich Main Station in 2019, 2020, and 2021, as well as in the Poeta Massimo Troisi exhibition at Castel dell’Ovo, Naples, Italy, and in the Exposition Artisti da Museo in Rome, Italy. In 2023, she held numerous digital exhibitions abroad with Artboxy and a digital solo exhibition at EuropaArt in Amsterdam. She also exhibited at the MAD Gallery in Milan, Italy, where her works were streamed multiple times on one of the screens in Times Square, New York.
Margaretha has received numerous awards, including a gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Fine Art in Beijing, China; the 60 Top Artists Award in 2017 at the Metropolitan Art Museum in Las Vegas, USA; the Top 60 Masters 2020 award by ATIM at Grimandi Gallery, New York, USA; and the Paolo Levi Prize at Palazzo Clerici, Milan, Italy. In 2023, she was honored with a medal as Artiste d’Excellence by EDMC-Europe, Les éditions des musées et de la culture-Europe, and in 2024, she received the Trophée De La IIIème Journée Mondiale Des Styles Artistiques 2024 from EDMC. Her work has been featured in many art books and catalogs, including the Atlante Dell’Arte Contemporanea by the Start Group, Corporate Patron of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
