VEDUTA DI VENEZIA

Description

Veduta di Venezia is a painting made entirely with the use of a palette knife, depicting the view from the city’s last bridge, the famous Accademia Bridge. This iconic perspective has been immortalised countless times in the history of art and still continues to inspire artists from all over the world. It is not uncommon, in fact, to encounter outdoor painters intent on capturing this unique landscape, surrounded by the visitors who flock to the city.

Traditionally, this view is often represented with a muted colour palette, dominated by grey and sombre tones, in an attempt to convey the city’s deep and intimate melancholy on canvas. With my work, I wanted to reinterpret this feeling while keeping its essence intact, but choosing a bright and acidic colour palette. These vivid tones with a strong visual impact, yet in their energy, manage to evoke the same melancholy and calmness that characterise the Venetian lagoon, while at the same time giving a feeling of movement and liveliness.
