Elisabeth Perlini: A Vision of Myth and Transformation

Perlini graduated from the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Genève in 1996, specializing in painting, sculpture, and installations. She later pursued a postgraduate diploma in sculpture and molding at the Haute École d’Art & Design (HEAD) in Geneva, where she experimented with innovative materials, particularly organic resins. Her breakthrough work was exhibited in 2006 at the Museum of Art and History in Geneva, featuring contemporary reinterpretations of ancient cultures from Egypt, Greece, and Rome.

Perlini’s art transforms classical references into modern expressions. One of her standout works is a reinterpretation of The Winged Victory of Samothrace, where she casts the wings in pink resin and places the sculpture on a wooden pallet, symbolizing movement and reinvention. Another striking installation reimagines the ram-headed sphinxes from the Temple of Amun-Ra at Karnak as colorful, transparent sculptures on an illuminated rail.

Her creative process involves layering narratives that appear and disappear, encouraging viewers to discover new meanings in their daily lives. She often collaborates with the public, engaging them in participatory art experiences in urban spaces.

Beyond her visual art, Perlini has studied contemporary dance and jazz in Paris and Berkeley, California, which further informs the dynamic nature of her work. She is the president of the BAT43 cooperative in Geneva, where she organizes workshops for adults and children, fostering a vibrant artistic community.
