Frida Boland
Frida Boland
Frida Boland (Doetinchem, 1950) – visual artist – draws, paints, sculpts, makes icons and gives courses and workshops; is multi-coloured in feeling, thinking, speaking and working. Always looking for unique identity and meaning. Her work has to do with the search for harmony. She graduated from the Art Academy in Arnhem and then trained as a drawing therapist. She is the author of several books.
Frida Boland’s artworks arise from her fascination for, and considerable knowledge of, ancient peoples and cultures, she tries to make connections between ancient cultures. During her many travels, she was inspired by past and still-existing rituals, objects, religions and legends from other continents. Her paintings, drawings, icons and sculptures have a magical spiritual charge that in turn inspire others. She masterfully uses ancient sources of inspiration to build a bridge between past and present, between reality and imagination.
Frida has an inner urge to engage in work that contributes to her own growth and inner development as well as that of others – a higher purpose than just material gain. Her teaching is focused on the development of the potential of others, she is interested, quickly sees possibilities and acts as a catalyst in the realization of ideas. Tries to understand people and helps them to develop themselves, with a focus on individuality and growth. Her greatest wish is peace and wholeness for herself and the world.
Frida Boland is an established name and has been providing inspiring drawing and painting courses for years. In her own studio, courses are given with a spiritual background, such as Mandala and Chakra. And courses with ancient cultures as themes such as Buddha, Egypt, Indians, Goddesses, Angels and Icons, but also still lifes, landscape, portrait and nature drawing. It is a versatile program with an emphasis on technology and experience. We mainly work with coloured pencil, gouache, tempera, acrylic paint and ink.
