Giuliano Cataldo Giancotti
Was born in Bern, Switzerland in 1990. He graduated with honors in Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milano in 2015 with a thesis titled “The transformations of the trip, from the grand tour to contemporary travel”. Giancotti creates very unique iron sculptures, he is a pioneer in this field and one of the few young Italian sculptors who explores all the possibilities of using iron to project a perspective for three-dimentional sculptures. He works with architects in Italy on construction projects and his works are collected by private collectors both in Italy and Hong Kong. He currently collaborates with the Hysteria Art Gallery (Milan) and Eye Contemporary Gallery (Hong Kong). Since 2020 he has been a teacher of plastic and sculptural disciplines at the Liceo Artisstico La Traccia in Calcinate (BG). At present he lives and works in Milano.
Giancotti’s artistic research comes from his deep interest in Humans.
He starts from the body footprint left behind himself and then he enhances the concept of body up to spirituality.
The attention given to spirituality, which is conceived as a strict confidence of Man with his interiority and the intimate search of the Self, is the most interesting aspect of his sculptures.
In order to reach awareness, spirituality and feel ourselves as part of the Cosmos, the human being must experience a honest inner growth, without any prejudice.
Giancotti’s sculptures suggest and help paying attention and listening to one’s deep soul and to what it’s surrounding us, both material and spiritual.
Sculpture, performance and video are the most suitable means by which he realizes his artistic career, giving priority to those means that, from time to time, are more suitable.
