Hećimović Marija
MARIJA HEĆIMOVIĆ is a contemporary artist, born in the Mediterranean part of Croatia, but has lived in the capital city of Zagreb for many years.
Painting became her hobby in 2013, after she sent her first miniatures, drawn as if from a game, to an international juried exhibition and successfully placed in a strong competition and selection. Having gained confidence, she soon competed and entered several more. Then in 2014, she enrolled and diligently attended one and 2 years later another private school, where she studied the theory and techniques of drawing and painting in parallel for 5 years, gained initial experience in painting skills and in performances at painting exhibitions.
In addition to nature and everyday life, she draws inspiration from memories, letting intuition guide her and improvisation to be her companion. Her landscapes are therefore most often not an expression of direct observation but of an ideal world, which she successfully draws through the layers of the history of European modern painting to post-impressionism.
By blending textures and colors, she creates vivid motifs in figurative and abstract painting, most often painting on linen canvas, jute and mediapan, with acrylic or oil paints, but also with other techniques. She often creates large paintings in formats of 1m. Sometimes in a series, arranging diptychs and triptychs, but also uses medium and small sizes.
She has physically exhibited her artwork to the public at 6 solo exhibitions and participating in 30 group exhibitions, 8 of which were international and 4 of which were juried. In addition to physical exhibitions, she has also occasionally exhibited her works at global web painting galleries. In one of them, launched in Canada, she competed in 2020 with her painting Hum for the painting of the month of May and won 3rd place in a competition of 3 thousand artworks.
Her works can be seen on the available web gallery and some on her Facebook profile.
