International Women’s Day

Today, we celebrate the art, strength, and inspiration that women bring to the world!

As the world comes together to celebrate International Women’s Day, it is essential to honor the women who are making a profound impact in the arts.

Our gallery proudly supports talented female artists whose work illuminates creativity, emotions, and the beauty of life.

Let this day be a reminder of the courage, passion, and invaluable contributions of women in art and society.

Kaisa is an artist, curator, art organizer, and critic. She has studied photography at Tartu Art College and has participated in exhibitions since 2003. As an artist, curator, and writer, HER aim is to communicate emancipating author positions and art projects dealing with social and political pressure and restrictions
and to deal with the problems of the field more broadly. I am inspired by people’s contradictions, weaknesses, desires, and dreams that they dare not be aware of.

LYNSEY STORER

Lynsey is an English painter based in London. Lynsey’s interest and inspiration began at a young age walking the fields and from the age of 14 sitting in Clumber Park and the surrounding Sherwood Forest. Progressing to a lifetime of en plein air painting; she likes to experience, live, and be in the moment. ‘The movement and rhythms of nature or the color and textures of the landscape play an important role in her desire to record’. She says that ‘we rarely look at photos we have taken but paintings have a timeless quality.

AYESHA KHALID(AK KALEIDO)

Ayesha Khalid’s art is deeply rooted in realism, capturing life’s textures, emotions, and intricate details. While her foundation lies in still life, landscapes, and calligraphy, she also embraces vibrant abstracts and bold compositions, allowing intuition and mood to guide her creativity. Blending tradition with innovation, her work remains both universal and deeply personal, reflecting her belief in the power of storytelling through visual art.

Beyond painting, Ayesha explores photography, design, and mixed media, seeing the world itself as a canvas

Rasha Amin, a multidisciplinary creative force whose work speaks to the themes of time, memory, and emotions. Her artistic journey, spanning continents and cultures, is a testament to resilience, empowerment, and the evolving role of women in the contemporary art scene. Rasha Amin’s art is more than just an aesthetic endeavor; it is a vehicle for dialogue and connection. By weaving together personal narratives and broader social themes, she creates work that resonates across cultures and invites viewers to engage with new perspectives. Her pieces foster empathy and understanding, encouraging conversations that break down barriers and inspire change.

In celebrating International Women’s Day, Amin’s story serves as an inspiration for women artists worldwide. Her resilience, creativity, and dedication to pushing artistic boundaries reinforce the importance of supporting and amplifying women’s voices in the arts. Through her work, she continues to pave the way for future generations, proving that art has the power to transcend limitations and shape a more inclusive world.

Anastasia’s work merges classical techniques with modern visual languages, offering profound reflections on identity, transformation, and the human experience. Having studied at the Moscow Academic Art College, she further honed her craft at the Florence Academy of Fine Arts and the Rome Academy of Fine Arts. Now based in Rome, her artistic practice is deeply rooted in traditional figurative painting, yet it transcends classical forms to engage with contemporary themes.

A defining characteristic of her work is the physicality of the figures and objects she depicts. With a style that sometimes verges on hyperrealism, she removes these subjects from their familiar contexts, placing them in surreal, illusory spaces. The result is a striking interplay between reality and abstraction, where forms are distorted, reassembled, and suspended in compositions that are both dynamic and frozen in time.

Her work navigates the tension between movement and stillness, exploring the fragile balance between life and inertia. Anthropomorphic and organic forms appear frozen, as if turned to stone, creating a suspended reality where time seems to pause. This contrast between material presence and lifelessness invites viewers to question the essence of existence and the transient nature of identity.

On Women’s International Day, we honor the remarkable contributions of women in art, including those who transform nature into powerful visual experiences. Antonia Glynne Jones is an East African-born painter and printmaker whose passion for vibrant colors, breathtaking vistas, and expressive mark-making has defined her artistic journey. From an early age, she was captivated by the dazzling landscapes of East Africa, where hot colors, bold shapes, and natural beauty shaped her artistic perspective. This love for scenery led her to abstract landscape painting, where she merges the raw power of nature with her unique artistic interpretation.

Her work is characterized by her fascination with mixed media, including inks, acrylics, collages, and paints. However, her deepest passion lies in the richness of oil paint, where smooth textures and dynamic hues come to life on the canvas. Over 30 years of practice, she has refined her signature style, blending structured observation with spontaneous mark-making to capture the essence of her subjects. Her paintings offer a bird’s-eye perspective of coastal scenes, twisting colors and shapes into vibrant compositions that pulse with energy. Her work embodies both a deep appreciation for the natural world and a creative reinterpretation of it, inviting viewers to see landscapes through a new, abstract lens.

Marjolein is a painter whose journey spans continents, careers, and personal challenges, each shaping her artistic philosophy and approach to creativity. Through personal loss and the challenges of life, painting became her sanctuary—an avenue for rediscovering inner strength and reconnecting with the freedom she had once known as a child. In the process of growing up, societal conditioning often distances individuals from their authentic selves, replacing natural curiosity with learned behaviors and perceived realities. Her art is a testament to breaking free from these constraints and embracing the boundless potential within.

She believes that fear—the root of control, power struggles, and environmental destruction—must be released to cultivate love, harmony, and cooperation with nature. By embracing freedom of spirit, people can engage in innovative thinking and discover creative solutions, not only in art but also in daily life and professional endeavors. Through her paintings, she seeks to inspire others to reconnect with their innate intelligence and compassion, fostering a world that is both nurturing and empowering.

Her work is not just about artistic expression but also about rekindling the deep connection between individuals, nature, and the world. By immersing oneself in art—whether as a creator or an observer—one can rediscover a profound sense of belonging and purpose.

We are proud of our artists and thrilled to have them as part of our Galleri SoHo community.
