Claudio Goycoolea is a Chilean artist whose work is deeply rooted in the exploration of human emotions, social themes, and the transformation of reality through artistic expression. Having studied art painting at the University of Chile between 1978 and 1982, Goycoolea’s creative journey has evolved from traditional landscape and portrait painting to a more profound and expressive figurative style. Goycoolea’s artistic vision begins with reality—landscapes and human figures that serve as the foundation for his work. However, as his style developed, he transitioned towards figurative expressionism, where the depiction of the human form and its surroundings is no longer bound by realism but is instead shaped by emotional interpretation. This transformation allows him to convey deeper narratives that reflect the complexities of human existence.
