Artist-Estonia
Piret Rohusaar is an Estonian painter known for her diverse approach to art, from family portraits to jazz musicians. She studied at the Estonian State Art Institute and later worked as a product and advertising designer. Rohusaar's work often explores the dynamic energy of music, particularly jazz, capturing its flow and fluidity through her expressive portraits. She has exhibited extensively in Estonia and internationally, with a focus on showcasing the vibrancy of modern life. Article: Born in Tallinn, Estonia, in 1961, Piret Rohusaar began her art journey at the Estonian State Art Institute, where she studied painting from 1982 to 1988. Guided by influential teachers like Tiit Pääsuke, Enn Põldroos, and Ando Keskküla, Rohusaar honed her artistic skills, later becoming a member of the Estonian Artists' Association. Her work, often described as dynamic and vibrant, spans various genres. Rohusaar’s early pieces focused on family portraits, deeply personal and reflective of her close relationships. By the 2000s, her interest shifted toward capturing the fluid energy of jazz music. Over the years, she produced a series of portraits of Estonian jazz musicians, attempting to visually represent the rhythm and movement of music. These portraits formed the basis of numerous solo exhibitions in Estonia and abroad, including in France. Rohusaar’s exploration of the natural world is also evident in her plein air works, such as those painted during her stays in southern France and Greece. Today, Rohusaar continues to be an active force in the Estonian art scene, exhibiting both locally and internationally.
