Sylvie Delpierre

I am Sylvie Delpierre, born Bertrand. I am 47 years old and I am a self-taught painter. I learned by watching my mother, also an artist, who learned by watching her uncle... As you will have understood, it’s a family affair! I first started oil painting, to follow the Family path and in realism. After a break of more than 10 years due to maternity, I picked up my brushes again and finally learned to really listen to myself. I started acrylic for its shimmering side and especially its quick drying! Then, I learned to let go even more, and I put my emotions down with knives on a canvas... and a second one... etc. I like working with the material that gives life to my paintings, and with the knife whose frank and sharp side suits my personality well. Still self-taught, I have produced three exhibitions in our city with two artist friends, including one on the theme of Covid and non-essential professions. I participated in three editions of Toiles Solidaires, participated in the illustration of a collection of poems, the cover of an autobiography published in France and Spain. I won the Jury Prize at an exhibition on the theme of the sea organized by the Guttenberg center in Grabels in 2020. More recently, I received the 2nd jury prize at the Salon de la Méditerranée in Grau-du-Roi, a city of artists. I like to discover and make others discover, surprise and be surprised. I love life and its touch of madness! I hope you will love my world as much as I enjoy painting it and presenting it to you.
