This is a piece from a collage series focusing on the landscapes of coastal Maine, USA. It is done by drawing with watercolor pencils, adding a water wash (which turns it into a watercolor), then cutting and collaging the pieces.

In the series, I create a “deconstructed landscape”, which I then reconnect through meandering pencil lines. The lines are a metaphor for “looking at”, or “walking through”the different parts (or pieces) of the landscape. In this piece the lines represent a walk through the garden either visually or figuratively. In other works the lines may literally represent  traveling from one location to another. The cool palette was chosen to represent the coastal Maine landscape in the summer.
